Raw denim bleeding

WORRIED ABOUT INDIGO BLEEDING? This is normal — here's how to reduce it

WHAT IS INDIGO BLEEDING? Raw denim is dyed with indigo that has not been washed out at the factory. This is intentional — it allows the denim to fade and develop a unique character based on how you wear it. In the early weeks, the excess indigo may transfer onto light surfaces like white sneakers, car seats, or skin. This is completely normal and will decrease over time.

HOW TO REDUCE BLEEDING

01 COLD SOAK Fill a tub or large sink with cold water. Submerge the jeans completely and let them soak for 30–60 minutes. The water will turn deep blue — this is the excess dye releasing.

02 RINSE Drain and refill with fresh cold water. Repeat until the water runs noticeably lighter. You don't need it to run perfectly clear.

03 AIR DRY Hang the jeans from the waistband and let them air dry completely in a ventilated space. Do not wring them out or use a dryer.

04 REPEAT IF NEEDED One soak removes most of the excess dye. If bleeding continues after wearing, repeat the cold soak once more. After two washes most of the loose indigo will be gone.
