Raw denim care guide
Raw denim is meant to age with you. Every crease and every fade develops naturally over time based on how you move and live in them. Taking proper care will preserve the structure, maintain the deep indigo tone, and help your jeans create their own personal fades.
How to wash raw denim
Step 1
Fill a bathtub, sink, or large container with lukewarm water. You only need enough water to fully submerge the jeans.
Step 2
Add a small amount of mild liquid detergent. Dark color detergent or wool safe detergent works well. Avoid strong fragrances or anything containing bleach. Mix the detergent into the water before adding the jeans.
Step 3
Place the jeans into the water. They may float at first, so press them down until they are completely submerged. Turning the jeans inside out is optional if you want to slightly reduce indigo loss.
Let them soak for about 30 minutes. You can move them gently through the water once or twice to release dirt without disturbing the natural creases.
Step 4
Drain the water and refill with cold clean water. Submerge the jeans again and let them sit for 5 to 10 minutes to rinse out any remaining soap.
Step 5
Lift the jeans out and let any excess water drip off. Hang them from the waistband in a place where they can air dry. Expect 6 to 12 hours of drying time depending on the environment.
Never use a dryer. Heat can distort the shape and damage the fades.
